Overview

Charlotte attended a prestigious magic school that taught light magic, the most common (and legal) form of magic. A bit of a black sheep her entire life, she never had many friends until she became enamored with an upperclassman after being shown kindness by her, to the point that Charlotte made the regrettable decision to cheat by learning dark magic so that she could become more powerful and impress her senior with advanced spells.

Charlotte dove deeper into dark magic than she originally intended and was caught in the act, leading to her expulsion from the academy. Charlotte was distraught and became reclusive. She moved to a small, run-down village and continued to study dark magic in her own home.

Charlotte is a loner, but not by choice; her eccentric personality has always put others off of her and caused her to be the subject of ridicule in spite of her best efforts. She is highly intelligent and talented at magic, but she lacks self-esteem, so she behaves in a self-aggrandizing manner at times to compensate. She becomes dedicated to her goals to the point of obsession and is willing to go through with any plan, no matter how poorly thought out, to achieve them.

  • Charlotte doesn't have normal ears; she has cat ears, but she is embarrassed by them, so she hides them under her hat.
  • Charlotte’s cat-hybrid biology is the result of her mother taking a cat-hybrid as a familiar and eventually forming a romantic relationship with him.
  • Charlotte’s familiar is a black kitten who wears a matching cape, named Little Guy.
  • Little Guy obeys Charlotte's commands to the best of his ability and is responsible for summoning her spell book, fetching potion ingredients, and scoping out areas that Charlotte can’t.

Abilities

Spell Casting

Charlotte is trained in spellcasting, and while she is able to perform basic spells such as those for protection, light, dispelling, disarming, and basic healing, she specializes in Dark Magic, a long-forbidden art deriving power from the dark side of the moon and thought to be highly destructive. While the form tends to be associated with harming and cursing, Charlotte usually only channels the dark side of the moon to perform umbrakinesis.

Potion Creation

A somewhat experienced alchemist, Charlotte has a decent knowledge of potions. If Little Guy can fetch her the ingredients, Charlotte is capable of brewing a myriad of potions, including antidotes, potions for mana recovery, and other special effects, even on the go.

Reanimation

Reanimation falls under the category of dark magic, and while any experienced dark magic practitioner can raise and control a mindless corpse, what Charlotte has been practicing is... special. The Perfect Resurrection is a technique only one other dark mage has mastered, and Charlotte has only gotten the hang of it halfway. Charlotte has managed to resurrect a corpse once, mind intact but not fully healed, and forcibly jump started with electricity.

Cat Form

Charlotte is able to fully take the form of an unassuming-looking black cat, but she prefers not to do this. Anything that would prove this ability useful she simply has Little Guy do instead.

Mireille

Mireille - Crush

There's no one that Charlotte admires more than Mireille; not only was she the most talented witch in the whole academy, but the kindest too. Sure, their interactions in their school days were limited, but when everyone else was cruel to Charlotte, it took only one simple act of kindness from Mireille for Charlotte to fall head over heels for her. Charlotte still thinks about her to this day.

Gabriel

Gabriel - Friend…?

Well, needless to say, Charlotte and Gabriel didn't start off on the right foot. To Gabriel's horror, Charlotte resurrected him against his will, using the very form of magic he had spent his life fighting against. Charlotte wasn't thrilled with Gabriel's conditions to actually listen to her, nor with his harsh feelings towards dark magic practitioners, but from the start she never hated him. As much as she annoys and teases him, deep down she truly trusts him and admires how easily goodness comes to him.
